Here’s the bottom line:
I’m here to be open, honest, and real with you. I hope that this answers any questions you may have, but if you still have others, please feel free to send me an e-mail via my contact form!
Are we a good fit for each other?
First and foremost, I want to make sure that I’m exactly what you’re looking for. Do you love the outdoors, adventure, or travel, consider yourself to be more laid back, want to incorporate some unique or different ideas into your wedding day, or love genuine, candid, fun and emotional photos? Then we’re gonna be fast friends! (Bonus points if you’re obsessed with plants, hiking, thrifting, or Taylor Swift, because those are the truest ways to my heart!) I find it so important to work with people who value some of the same things that I do, so that I can truly put my heart and soul into our time together, and give you my best. I want to be more than just the person who records your wedding day or your big life moments, I want to get to know you personally and really invest in your experience. Ideally, we both walk away from this whole thing having gained a new friend! If this sounds like what you’re looking for, then let’s get in touch!
How long have you been a photographer?
I’ve been obsessed with any camera I could get my hands on since middle school, but I’ve been officially running my photography business since 2015, and completed my 8th wedding season in 2023! In 2014, I graduated from Spokane Falls Community College with an AA-S in Photography and have been growing and learning even more ever since then.
Are you licensed and insured?
ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY! Keeping a legally functioning business is very important to me.
WILL YOU TRAVEL FOR OUR WEDDING OR SESSION?
Heck yeah! Travel is something I try to do as much as possible in my free time and it’s something I genuinely love. Seeing a place for the first time brings me so much inspiration and creativity. If you’d like me to come along with you on your next adventure, send me a message via my contact form to inquire about travel rates! Also take a second to look at my Travel page, as I’ve got a handful of bucket list locations I’d love to shoot in, and am happy to customize you a discounted package for them!
WHAT DO YOU CHARGE FOR TRAVEL?
There isn’t really a simple answer to this question, because every situation is so different. Variables that can go into determining your added travel fee include what I’m traveling for (full day wedding, elopement, session, etc.), how far it is, if I’m driving or flying, and lots of other little things! Depending on all of that, I will calculate an added fee based on my mileage rates that cover my gas or flight / rental car, food, and extra time. Additional to that, I ask that my clients book my accommodations at our destination. (I’ll let you know how many nights will be needed; depending on the location and travel time, it will be no more than 2!) I do waive the accommodation booking requirement for any of my Seattle area clients, as I have family and friends to stay with while I’m there.
Long story short, travel fees vary based on where you’d like me to go and what I’m going there to photograph, so just make sure to ask about it when you inquire, and I’ll calculate a custom rate for your needs! Also keep in mind that as listed above, I do offer customized discounts for any bucket list locations on my Travel page.
Why is wedding photography so expensive?
Oh, if you ONLY knew. I could probably write an entire separate page just about this topic! But to sum it up, please consider all of the additional hours I spend e-mailing, location scouting, having meetings, traveling to weddings and sessions, sorting through images, editing them (and then going over them again and then AGAIN one more time to perfect them), and exporting / uploading galleries. Remember the years of time and money spent attending college programs or workshops, honing our craft, accumulating the best equipment, building a website, and marketing ourselves on social media. Remember that we’re self employed, so we pay for 100% of our taxes, business license fees, insurance, and a stack of various subscriptions to keep business legal and running. I’m just a one woman show, doing all of this full time! I often joke that at the end of a wedding day, most vendor’s work is finished, but mine is just beginning. I hope you can see the tremendous value in the investment that you’re making, and that you know you’re both supporting my dream, and getting your every penny’s worth.
Can we see a full wedding?
Absolutely! I don’t post entire wedding galleries on my website because most people don’t want to take the time to scroll through 500-1000 images. But please feel free to ask to see a full wedding gallery when you inquire, and I’d be more than happy to send over examples. I want you to know exactly what you’re getting from me when you choose me for your wedding day!
How far in advance should I book?
The sooner, the better. Popular summer wedding dates (Saturdays, June through September) can book 9-12 months in advance! For any other portrait sessions (engagement, anniversary, senior, etc.) I’d recommend getting a hold of me at least 2 -4 weeks before you want to schedule, to ensure I have space on my calendar for you.
What’s the booking process?
It’s fairly simple: once I’ve answered any questions you may have and you decide that I’m the best fit for you, sign your contract and place your deposit, and I’m all yours!
Woah, that contract is intense. Why?
When I send you your contract and it’s filled with all kinds of scary what-if’s, please don’t panic. It simply lays out every worst case scenario possible so you know how I’m going to handle things, should anything ever go wrong. It also expands on a lot of what you’re reading here on this page! Full disclosure; I’ve NEVER had to put any of the scary stuff in my contract to use before, because it’s my main priority to communicate well with you throughout the entire process and make sure that we’re completely on the same page! If good communication is achieved, we should never need to worry about referring back to our contract, and all what-if’s and maybe’s can remain that way. When I send you your contract, please read it thoroughly and don’t hesitate to ask for any clarifications on anything.
Are you involved in the wedding planning process?
I can be as involved as you’d like me to be! Since I’ve been doing this for a little while now, I’ve gotten a pretty good grip on what works and what doesn’t. Of course, we’ll sit down to arrange the schedule for the day from a photography standpoint, but if you have any additional questions about the details of the day, or would like vendor recommendations, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
What should I wear to our session?
Ultimately, you should wear whatever you love and what you feel most comfortable in. I recommend staying away from any bright colors, busy patterns, or logos because they can be distracting! One outfit for a session is totally fine, but if you want to do more than that I’d recommend doing two, and splitting that between one casual one and one that’s more dressed up. Any more than 2 outfits can be a little too much, and takes time away from the session! When you’re picking out what to wear, feel free to send me photos and I can give you my thoughts!
How many images do you deliver?
Every wedding and session is so different from the next, which is why I don’t set a cutoff amount of images delivered. I’ve seen some photographers run their business this way, to get you to pay extra for extra photos, but these are your memories and I want to make sure you have every single one of them. (I’m going to take the time to edit all of the best ones anyways!) For engagement or portrait sessions, the amount delivered can run anywhere between 100 - 200! For weddings, so many factors can dictate what the final count is, including bridal party size, whether you choose to do a first look or not, how big your family / guest list is, the events you include in your reception, etc. It can range anywhere between 500 - 1000! I encourage you to prioritize quality, and remember that a well captured wedding doesn’t always mean a super high yield of photos.
Do you deliver every single photo from the session / wedding? How about RAW or unedited photos?
Nope and nope! I only want to give you the best, highest quality images from our time together, because I’m a firm believer in quality > quantity! Trust in me and my process. My hope is that you’re choosing me because you like my style of shooting + editing, and delivering unedited photos wouldn’t be a true representation of my art. If you feel like I forgot to deliver a certain photo, please feel free to reach out and I’ll take a look through your gallery a second time! I’m human too, and mistakes can happen!
Do you photoshop your clients?
Aside from potential blemishes, bruises, or other temporary things, no! I don’t believe altering your appearance is the best representation of who you are. I promise to photograph you in a way that flatters, and if you have something you’re especially self conscious of, let me know in advance and I’ll keep it in mind while we shoot!
What’s your turnaround time?
This can depend on a lot of factors, including the time of year, my travel schedule, and how busy I am. For any portrait sessions I aim to deliver in around 3 -4 weeks. For weddings, it can take around 6-8 weeks in my slower season (December - April) and around 10-12 weeks in my busy season (May - November). If for some reason it ends up being any longer than these estimated times, I will communicate that to you! I promise to get your photos back to you as soon as I can, without compromising quality for a quicker return date.
How will I be receiving my photos once they’re finished?
I’ll be emailing you a full resolution gallery where you can download any and all photos right to your computer or phone! Make sure to actually download the images instead of just taking screenshots from the gallery, as this will ensure the best quality imagery. I also strongly recommend that you download the entire gallery and back it up to a computer or an external hard drive!
Can I post my photos on social media?
Of course you can! Once you get your gallery, you have the right to share your photos on any of your accounts. I do ask that you tag me and give credit in your caption when possible (referrals are so important for my business!), and that under no circumstances, do you crop, edit, or alter my photos in any way. I want the memories that you share to be an accurate representation of my unique style!
Do you offer discounts on your packages?
At this time, I do not, unless you’re wanting to book a wedding or session at a travel destination that I’m super interested in having in my portfolio. I can confidently tell you that these photos and the experience that comes along with them will be 100% worth your investment!
